In summer, fold the doors right back, feel the breeze flow in and pad barefoot from the deck to the fridge, if you haven’t just hung a bottle of wine down into the cool water. In winter, it’s a place to stretch out with a book and watch the logs glowing gently on the fire. The big bed sits by the large round window and the comfy corner sofa faces the wood burner and kitchen, which is fully equipped with hobs and a fridge freezer. The interior is an open-plan space of rich, dark wood and pale fabric accents. It’s a place of seclusion and calm, where you’ll hear nothing but the birds and have no visitors except the occasional curious duck, for whom treats have been provided so you have something healthy to feed them. I also went for a run in the neighborhood in the morning and it's a really cute little community.The Lake House is in a breathtaking stretch of Cheshire countryside, by a lake in the grounds of historic Coddington Mill. We walked by the lake, but didn't participate in any of the many lake activities.

They serve free coffee in the morning at their little cafe and it was better than that your standard free hotel coffee. I noticed that another couple was checked into the room next to us, and there were people above them, but I never heard anyone at all when we were in our room. And even though the hotel was probably at low to moderate capacity - it feels like the type of place that even when it's full, it doesn't feel crowded. The grounds were really peaceful and tranquil. In the evening they have fire pits around the pools that they light and it was really pretty and romantic. We loved the jacuzzis though! I wish we'd been there on a Friday when they serve Sangria at the pool! (oh well, we'll just have to go back). Nice touch in this day and age when we all have so many electronics to charge :) The pools were both heated and almost warm enough for me to swim in (On December 30, mind you). It was just 2 of us for one night but I did notice that there were a TON of outlets throughout the room. The room was really spacious and just overall lovely. They had quiet reggae music playing at the pool and I really enjoyed it! The room was IMMACULATE. Every room has a balcony with bright yellow adirondack chairs and it was really nice sitting outside our room, with a cup of coffee and my book.

The hotel texted us to let us know our room was ready and we were able to check in around 1 PM. We got a pretty good deal since we stayed the night before New Year's Eve (12/30). We booked it last minute as a fun little getaway during the holidays. Pros: We LOVED our one-night stay at the Lakehouse! From the moment we arrived to the moment we left - everything was perfect.
